Day two focuses on immersing you in the river environment. After a hearty breakfast at 8:00 AM, you'll join your seasoned local guides to explore the specific stretches of the river we'll be fishing. This crucial day allows you to understand the river's nuances, identify potential holding areas for taimen, the agile lenok (a native trout-like species known for its vibrant colors and fighting spirit, and the delicate Mongolian grayling (a beautiful fish prized for its prominent dorsal fin and preference for clear, cold water, in Mongolia they can get as big as 65 cm. Our guides will offer tailored advice on fly selection and rigging techniques effective for the diverse range of fish we'll be targeting, ensuring you're equipped for success with each species.
Days 3 & 4: Casting for Giants and Silver Beauties
The thrill of the chase begins! These two days are dedicated to fully experiencing the exceptional fly fishing the Khentii has to offer. Whether you prefer the intimacy of wading in clear runs or the strategic advantage of fishing from a boat, our local guides (we) will provide invaluable instruction on casting techniques, fly presentation specific to each species, and safe river navigation. Their deep understanding of the river's seasonal patterns (for example that Taimen is most active in September) and fish behavior will maximize your opportunities for memorable catches of various sizes and species.

After a rewarding morning session on a different part of the river, the afternoon provides an opportunity to connect with the local nomadic culture. This immersive experience offers a deeper appreciation for the land and its people, enriching your journey visiting Mongolia.
Days 6 & 7: Change in fishing areas
With several days of diverse fishing under your belt, days six and seven are dedicated to further exploring the river's varied habitats and refining your angling skills for taimen, lenok, and grayling. Our knowledgeable guides will lead you to different stretches of the river, each with its own unique character and holding different concentrations of fish. You'll learn to adapt your techniques and fly choices based on the water conditions and the target species, further enhancing your understanding of these fascinating Mongolian fish. On day seven, we go to a separate stream known for its healthy populations of a specific species, offering a change of pace and scenery.
