How fishing in Mongolia works
From mid-June to early November, Mongolia’s rivers open to anglers seeking pristine waters and solitude. Fishing here is strictly catch and release, preserving the environment and health of the taimen and other native species. For international visitors, fly fishing is the only allowed method, and permits are required, a small step toward an unforgettable experience in one of the world’s last untouched fishing frontiers.
Type of Fishing experiences.
In Mongolia, there are several ways to enjoy fishing, depending on how close to nature you want to be. Some anglers choose comfortable lodges along well-known rivers, offering easy access and cozy evenings after a day of fishing. Others prefer mobile river camps, which move along remote stretches of water and bring you deep into untouched wilderness.
Below we have an example itinerary for one of our fishing trip in the Khentii region, an area we love to go.
